When researchers at Harvard University learned that lobbyists for meat packers, soft drink companies, and snack food manufacturers had influenced the formation of the USDA’s food pyramid (you know–the one used by school cafeterias all over America), they set out to draft a healthier pyramid that is not influenced by corporate interests (remember, the USDA’s mission is to promote the American cattle and dairy industries).
